Creative Quality Is the Most Important Lever in Legal Advertising

The largest study ever conducted on advertising effectiveness just proved what the best PI marketers already suspect: Creative quality is not a nice-to-have. It is the second-most powerful profit multiplier in advertising, behind only brand size.
System1 and Effie analyzed 1,265 award-winning campaigns across the U.S. and Europe, matched them with creative testing data from 200,000 respondents, and built a model that explains 60.1% of all reported business results. The finding that matters most if you run a PI firm: In the B2B, insurance, and professional services category, creative quality and media support together explain 84.5% of campaign outcomes.
The report, called The Creative Dividend, introduces the Creativity Stack, four layers of creative output that multiply advertising effectiveness when they work together: emotion, distinctiveness, showmanship, and consistency. Each layer carries its own profit multiplier, with consistency the strongest at 2.9x and emotion close behind at 2.4x. Stack all four and the effects compound. Strip any one out and the returns degrade.
For PI firms spending five and six figures a month on television, paid social, and paid search, this is not abstract brand theory. It quantifies the gap between advertising that builds a firm and advertising that burns cash.
And the platforms agree. Meta's own research, conducted with global market research firm Nepa, found that following creative best practices on Facebook and Instagram drives a 1.2 to 2.7x increase in long-term sales and a 1.2 to 7.4x increase in short-term sales. Nielsen puts it even more bluntly: Creativity drives 56% of a campaign's sales ROI.
The data from the independent study and the data from the platform itself point in exactly the same direction.
The dullest advertising costs 40% more to achieve the same result. Campaigns that fail to generate positive emotional responses produce an average ROI of $4.40, compared to $7.10 for campaigns that make people feel something. The study ranks B2B, insurance, and professional services as the second-dullest advertising category in the dataset, at 46% emotional neutrality. The researchers' conclusion is blunt: Categories are not dull, only marketing is dull. The Geico Gecko proved that two decades ago. Meta's own platform data backs this up: When Nestlé tested creative quality scoring on its Kit Kat campaigns in Spain, ads with high-quality creative were 12% more effective at driving sales than those with low creative scores, on the same platform, with the same targeting.
Consistency is the most valuable layer in the stack, and most firms are abandoning it. Consistent campaigns report 4x higher ROI (8.8 vs. 2.1) and are three times more likely to produce profit growth than inconsistent ones. Yet brands have become 25% less consistent over the past decade, chasing new ideas, new tools, and new channels instead of compounding what already works. Every creative reset forces a firm to rebuild memory structures from scratch. The study found that brands making zero creative team changes improved their emotional response by 0.22 Star Rating points and their distinctiveness by 4.7 Fluency Rating points annually. The fewer changes, the stronger the advertising got.
Distinctiveness turns media spend into revenue. Emotion turns revenue into profit. At every spend level, campaigns with above-average distinctiveness reported more revenue growth. But distinctiveness alone does not reliably produce profit. Emotion does. At small spend levels (under $5 million), campaigns that scored above average on both distinctiveness and positive emotion were 7x more likely to report incremental profit than campaigns that scored below average on both. For PI firms that cannot outspend national competitors, this is the leverage point: Better creative multiplies every dollar.
The study kills the short-term metrics trap. Campaigns optimized around four or more short-term objectives reported 0% profit growth and only 14% market share growth. Meanwhile, campaigns that ran for three or more years with price effects saw 63% report profit growth. The correlation between Meta's revenue growth and short-term campaign objectives sits at 91%. The platforms optimize for short-term action. The data shows that long-term brand building produces profit, pricing power, and reduced price sensitivity.
Challenger brands can close the gap, but only with the right creative strategy. The study analyzed 297 challenger brand campaigns and found that challengers rarely achieve a high Excess Share of Creativity (creative quality multiplied by media support). Their budgets are smaller, their brand equity is lower, and their distinctive assets are less established. But when challengers do achieve a high ESOC, they are 2x more likely to report profit growth, and their chance of market share gain increases by 2.8% per decile. The practical implication: PI firms that cannot win the budget war can win the creative quality war, and the data shows that the payoff scales.
If your media spend is high but your creative quality is below average, you are making paid noise, and the study shows those campaigns are below average in distinctiveness 30% of the time and below average in emotion and showmanship over 70% of the time.
The most supported campaigns in the category could do with more emotion and showmanship, not more budget.
Most PI firms have never evaluated their creative against these four layers. The firms that start will find the quality of the work, not the size of the buy, will explain the gap between what they spend and what they earn.

Google Is Purging Reviews at Record Rates. Law Firms Are Uniquely Exposed.

Google escalated its review enforcement in early 2026, and the crackdown is hitting every industry. But PI firms carry outsized exposure. Google designed its updated detection systems to catch the practices that built local dominance over the past decade (batch review requests after settlements, lobby iPads, referral incentives). The enforcement is retroactive: Google has just pulled reviews that survived for years based on pattern analysis that did not exist when people posted them. The rules just changed.
Google detects velocity spikes and treats them as fraud signals. The system analyzes review timing, frequency, linguistic similarity, device fingerprinting, and IP clustering. A firm that sends 50 post-settlement review requests on a Friday and gets 15 responses over the weekend will trip the same filters as a firm that bought 15 fake reviews. Even legitimate email campaigns that produce 20 reviews in a week get caught because the velocity pattern mimics a paid review campaign. The fix is pacing. Space review requests across days and weeks so the inflow looks organic. No batch sends. No end-of-quarter pushes.

Google flags reviews left from your office Wi-Fi as incentivized. Google tracks IP addresses and geolocation data. When multiple reviews originate from the same network, the system reads it as an in-office review station, which Google classifies as incentivized collection. The National Law Review reported on this pattern specifically for law firms: Clients who leave reviews on a lobby iPad or while sitting in a conference room create the exact signal Google penalizes. The rule is simple. Never ask a client to leave a review while they are in your office. Send them home with instructions. Let them review from their own device, on their own network, in their own time.
Employee reviews are a policy violation with a documented removal path. Google's Maps User Generated Content Policy explicitly prohibits reviews from current and former employees. If anyone on your team left a review, flag it through the three-dot menu as "conflict of interest." The option sometimes does not appear on the first attempt but surfaces on the appeal (second pass). Do not wait for Google to find these. Self-report them now and remove the exposure before the system does it for you and flags the profile.
Any review that mentions an incentive is a live liability. Reviews containing language like "thanks for the gift card," "they gave us a discount," or "we got a free consultation for reviewing" violate Google's Fake Engagement policy. The penalties are not subtle: Google can freeze the profile so no new reviews post for a set period, unpublish all existing reviews, and display a public warning that it removed fake reviews. Google makes that warning visible to every potential client who searches your firm’s name. If incentivized reviews exist on your profile, flag them for removal yourself. Do not wait for the algorithm to find the language.
The enforcement is retroactive, and it compounds. Google's detection systems are reanalyzing historical review patterns with current-generation models. A review campaign that looked clean in 2023 can trigger a flag in 2026 because the detection methodology improved. Search Engine Land reported that the increase in deletions began building in early 2025 and intensified through mid-year, with more locations experiencing at least one deleted review in any given week. The trend is accelerating, not leveling off.
The tactical fix: Audit your review profile this week. Flag any employee reviews as conflict of interest. Flag any reviews that explicitly reference incentives. Stop all incentivized review programs immediately. Shift to a paced, organic review request workflow: one ask per resolved case, sent after the client leaves your office, timed so no single day produces a spike. Track review velocity as a metric the same way you track review count. Set an internal ceiling: no more than two to three new reviews per day for a single location. If your review volume drops, that is safer than a velocity spike that triggers a profile freeze. And diversify: Reviews on Avvo, Lawyers.com, and Yelp are not subject to Google's enforcement and still feed into AI recommendation engines.
The stakes are high because the penalty is not just lost reviews. It is a public warning on your profile that tells every prospective client that Google caught you gaming the system. For a PI firm, where trust is the first thing a client evaluates, that warning could damage you as much as a negative review.

Your LinkedIn Content Is Now AI Search Inventory. Most Law Firms Are Wasting It.

A few weeks ago, I shared Category Pirates' Content Pyramid framework and why most attorney LinkedIn content never climbs past Level 2: reposted articles with a generic take that required zero original thinking to produce. The argument was about differentiation. It turns out the stakes are higher than that.
New research from Profound and SEMRush confirms that LinkedIn is now the second most-cited domain across ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode, trailing only Reddit (11.03% versus 11.29%) and ahead of Wikipedia, YouTube, and every major news publisher. For professional queries specifically, Profound ranks LinkedIn #1 across six AI platforms. LinkedIn's citation frequency on ChatGPT alone doubled between November 2025 and February 2026, jumping from roughly #11 to #5 in domain rank.
That means the content you publish on LinkedIn no longer just competes for attention in a feed. Your potential clients are asking questions of AI tools right now, and LinkedIn content is showing up in the answers. So is content from referral partners and other attorneys evaluating who to send cases to. Every query is a chance for your firm to surface or be invisible.
AI platforms cite what you publish, not who you say you are. Posts, articles, and newsletters now account for 35% of all LinkedIn citations in ChatGPT, up from 27% three months ago. Profile citations dropped from 34% to 14.5% over the same period. SEMRush's analysis found that original content formed 95% of 89,000 LinkedIn URLs cited across AI platforms . Reshares accounted for just 5%. The attorney reposting a legal news article with "this is big" is invisible to every AI model on the market.
Educational and advice-driven content dominates AI citations. Content that shares knowledge or practical advice accounted for 54% to 64% of all cited LinkedIn material. Not promotional posts. Not branded graphics. Not firm announcements. AI models select content that answers a real question or teaches something specific. An attorney who publishes a detailed breakdown of how they built a deposition strategy around a specific trucking case is more likely to surface in an AI answer than a firm posting verdict announcements. This tracks directly with Category Pirates' Content Pyramid: These models reward Level 4 and 5 content (earned secrets, proprietary frameworks, real case experience). AI does not cite Level 2 and 3 content (reshares, generic takes).
Both the firm page and individual attorneys must publish. SEMRush found that ChatGPT and Google AI Mode cite individual creators 59% of the time. Perplexity cites company pages 59% of the time. The split varies by platform, so firms relying only on a company page or only on an attorney's personal profile miss citations on half the AI platforms that matter. The play is both: The firm page publishes educational content about practice areas and processes, and the attorneys publish original thinking from their own experience. Together, they cover the full surface area.
You do not need a massive audience. You need substance and consistency. Nearly 50% of cited LinkedIn authors have 2,000 or more followers, but AI was just as likely to cite authors with fewer than 500 followers. Median engagement on cited posts was 15 to 25 reactions and one or fewer comments. Virality does not drive AI citations. Relevance does. The cadence threshold is modest: Roughly 75% of cited authors publish five or more times in a four-week period. The format sweet spots are articles between 500 and 2,000 words and posts between 50 and 299 words. That is not a punishing schedule. It is a system. The firms that maintain it build a library that AI platforms draw from every time someone asks a relevant professional query. The ones who post sporadically leave that inventory empty.
AI cites LinkedIn content more faithfully than any other platform. SEMRush measured semantic similarity between source content and AI-generated responses on a 0-to-1 scale. LinkedIn scored 0.57 to 0.60, the highest fidelity of any platform tested. Reddit scored 0.53 to 0.54. Quora scored 0.435. When ChatGPT or Gemini pulls from your LinkedIn post, the answer it generates mirrors your original meaning more closely than content sourced from anywhere else. That authority signal is worth building on, and it means the effort you invest in getting the content right pays off twice: once in the feed, and again inside every AI-generated answer that cites it.
Meta and YouTube Lose Landmark Social Media Addiction Trial

A California jury found Meta and YouTube negligent in the design of their platforms and held both companies liable for the depression, anxiety, and body dysmorphia suffered by a young woman identified as K.G.M. The Los Angeles Superior Court jury deliberated for nearly 44 hours over nine days before awarding $6 million in compensatory and punitive damages, splitting liability 70% to Meta (for Instagram) and 30% to Google (for YouTube). The plaintiff began using YouTube at age 6 and created her first Instagram account at age 9. She is now 20.
This is the first social media addiction case to reach a jury verdict. It is also a bellwether that tests the legal theories underpinning more than 3,000 pending lawsuits filed by families and school districts arguing that the law should treat social media platforms as defective products. TikTok and Snap settled before trial.
The jury applied a product liability framework that PI firms know well. Plaintiffs argued that Instagram and YouTube contain addictive design features deliberately engineered to capture and hold young users: infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications, beauty filters, algorithmic content loops. The jury agreed. It found that both companies negligently designed or operated their platforms, that the companies knew the design was dangerous, that they failed to warn users, and that the design was a substantial factor in causing harm. This is defective-product reasoning applied to software. For PI firms that handle product liability, the legal architecture of these claims sits squarely inside their existing expertise.
Internal documents did the damage. Discovery produced Meta communications, including the statement, "If we wanna win big with teens, we must bring them in as tweens," along with internal data showing that 11-year-olds were four times more likely to return to Instagram than to competing platforms, despite an age-13 requirement that the plaintiff herself bypassed at age 9. This mirrors the pattern PI attorneys see in pharmaceutical, automotive, and consumer product litigation: corporate defendants who possess internal evidence of risk and continue selling the product. This trial proved a jury will act on the extensive document trail in social media cases.
The compensatory number is small. The signal is not. Six million dollars is modest by mass tort standards. But during opening arguments, plaintiff attorney Mark Lanier placed 415 M&Ms in a jar, one for each billion dollars of Alphabet's total stockholders' equity, and removed them one by one to show jurors how little even a billion-dollar verdict would register. More importantly, this verdict validates the theory of liability for more than 3,000 pending cases. One day earlier, a separate New Mexico jury ordered Meta to pay $375 million in civil penalties for failing to protect children from predators on Instagram and Facebook. Two verdicts in two states in two days, both finding platform liability. The litigation wave is no longer theoretical.
PI firms tracking mass tort opportunities should pay attention now. Social media youth-harm litigation carries the hallmarks of a durable mass tort category: a large and identifiable plaintiff class (minors and their families), a clear theory of defective design, a growing body of internal corporate documents, bipartisan political support for accountability, and now a jury verdict confirming liability. The 3,000-plus pending cases include individual family claims and institutional claims from school districts nationwide. Both Google and Meta announced plans to appeal, which means the litigation timeline will extend. Firms that evaluate this category now position themselves ahead of the appeals cycle rather than scrambling after it concludes.
What happened today is the proof of concept: A jury looked at the evidence, applied product liability principles to platform design, and found two of the largest technology companies in the world responsible for harming a child. For PI firm operators, the question is no longer whether social media youth harm litigation has merit. A jury just answered that.

Hendizadeh also faces a separate district attorney probe into allegations the firm paid clients to file fabricated claims tied to a $4 billion settlement.
Judge Slashes $950M in Punitive Damages from Johnson & Johnson Talc Verdict, Leaving $16M: A Los Angeles County judge granted Johnson & Johnson judgment notwithstanding the verdict on punitive damages in a mesothelioma case brought by the estate of Mae Moore, who used J&J talc products since the 1930s. The jury awarded $16 million in compensatory damages and $950 million in punitive damages in October. Judge Ruth Ann Kwan ruled the estate did not establish by clear and convincing evidence that J&J acted with malice. The $16 million compensatory award stands. J&J says it will appeal all remaining claims.
Telehealth Company Admits to Mining 300,000+ Patient Records and Selling Data to Law Firms: GuardDog Telehealth entered a consent judgment with Epic Systems admitting it accessed patient medical records under false pretenses through health information exchange networks, then sold the data to attorneys looking for clients with specific injuries. Epic's January lawsuit named multiple companies and described schemes involving more than 300,000 records accessed without patient consent. The consent judgment permanently bars GuardDog from medical records exchange networks and requires the deletion of all records in its possession.
Sixth Circuit Fines Two Attorneys $30,000 for AI-Hallucinated Citations: The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sanctioned attorneys Van Irion and Russ Egli after finding more than two dozen fake citations and misrepresentations of fact in an appeal involving a fireworks show injury in Athens, Tennessee. When the court asked whether they used generative AI, the attorneys refused to answer and challenged the lawfulness of the order. Each attorney must pay $15,000 in punitive sanctions plus reimburse the city's legal costs.
Texas Judge Dismisses Turbulence Injury Suit Against United Airlines on Jurisdiction: A federal court tossed the lawsuit of a passenger who sustained injuries when his Lagos-to-Virginia flight dropped roughly 1,000 feet because the plane never entered Texas airspace. The passenger bought the ticket and lives in Dallas, but Judge Ed Kinkeade ruled the injury occurred outside the state and the plaintiff did not meet due process requirements for personal jurisdiction. Kinkeade dismissed the suit without prejudice.
OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Ads and Tests an Ads Manager: AdWeek reported that OpenAI is testing an Ads Manager with a small group of partners, giving marketers a dashboard to run, monitor, and optimize campaigns in real time. Early advertisers are committing at least $200,000. Brands spotted so far include Best Buy, AT&T, Pottery Barn, Enterprise, Qualcomm, and Expedia. Search Engine Roundtable confirmed that ads now appear on most free-tier ChatGPT searches.
U.S. Traffic Deaths Fell 12% in 2025 to 37,810: The National Safety Council's preliminary estimate recorded 37,810 motor vehicle fatalities in 2025, down from 42,789, even as total miles driven increased 0.9%. California saw a 40% drop. Nine states and D.C. reported decreases exceeding 15%.

Juries awarded $31.3 billion in nuclear verdicts against corporate defendants in 2024, a 116% increase over 2023. Marathon Strategies tracked 135 verdicts exceeding $10 million, up 52% from the prior year, across state and federal courts using VerdictSearch and LexisNexis jury verdict data. The median nuclear verdict climbed to $51 million, up from $44 million in 2023.
Thermonuclear verdicts hit a record. Forty-nine verdicts exceeded $100 million in 2024, up from 27 the year before. Five crossed $1 billion, more than doubling the two billion-dollar verdicts in 2023. Product liability drove the largest share at $13.9 billion across 32 verdicts. For PI firms handling high-value product and premises cases, the ceiling on jury awards keeps rising.
The geographic footprint expanded to 34 states. Nuclear verdicts landed in 77 courts in 2024, up from 65 courts across 27 states in 2023. Texas led with 23, California followed with 17, and Pennsylvania posted 12. State courts produced nearly double the total award value of federal courts ($20.1 billion vs. $11.2 billion). Firms in markets that historically saw few nuclear verdicts now face jury pools that have heard about them.
Defense-side tort reform is accelerating in response, and PI firms should track it. Marathon Strategies notes that corporate defendants and their insurers cite the nuclear verdict trend as the primary driver behind state-level tort reform campaigns. Multiple states introduced caps on noneconomic and punitive damages in 2025 legislative sessions. Every cap that passes compresses the top of the damage range that funds contingency-fee practices. The firms that monitor which states are moving and adjust their case selection accordingly protect their economics. The firms that ignore it discover the cap at trial.

Michael Kelly on Breaking the $4M Revenue Ceiling by Becoming a CEO

Michael Kelly built Michael Kelly Injury Lawyers from a living room solo practice into a 10-office, 85-employee firm across Massachusetts that has recovered more than $150 million for over 10,000 clients, including a $17.6 million judgment on a premises liability tree-fall case. Kelly's thesis is simple: PI firms stall between $2M and $4M in revenue not because they lack cases, but because the founder never stops being a lawyer and starts being a CEO.
Kelly started the firm straight out of law school, settled his first significant case for $60,000, and built the practice on grassroots referrals and client service. The turning point was not a marketing breakthrough. It was admitting that his culture was broken, his operations could not handle the caseload, and his accountability systems did not exist. He hired a COO, implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), rebuilt the team from the inside, and now runs a firm where department heads own weekly L10 meetings and present monthly KPI reports to leadership.
The COO hire was the single biggest lever. Kelly calls COO Tim Paoli the tool that unlocked everything else. Paoli runs day-to-day operations and led the effort to recruit and retain top talent across the firm. Kelly's advice to firm owners stuck in the $2M to $4M range: Stop trying to run every department yourself. The CEO seat requires a fundamentally different skill set than the lawyer seat. You cannot occupy both.
Culture was the hidden bottleneck, not marketing. Kelly is blunt about what his firm looked like before the turnaround: People hated working there. Employees treated the job as a means to an end. Bad reviews came in. Complaints stacked up. When the firm invested in culture, alignment, and leadership development, the business accelerated faster than any ad spend increase ever produced. Kelly now says he does not believe he has a single employee who does not love their job. When polled, only 30% of his team ranked pay as their top priority. The rest pointed to culture, autonomy, and feeling valued.
EOS runs on department heads, not the founder. Kelly adapted EOS to fit his firm rather than adopting it wholesale. Department heads run weekly L10 meetings with data on a board, tracking the same six to eight KPIs every week. Monthly, each department head assembles a report and presents it to Kelly and the COO. The system creates accountability without requiring the founder to sit in every room. Kelly read Traction and Fireproof (the law firm adaptation), but stresses that firms should make EOS their own. If the framework feels too rigid, adoption fails.
AI intake reps handle after-hours calls and maintain a 92% wanted-lead conversion rate. The firm deploys AI representatives on nights and weekends. When callers reach the system, they can choose to continue with the AI or transfer to a human. Most choose to stay. The AI captures case details, routes qualified leads to the legal team, and follows up automatically by text and email. Kelly frames the math starkly: If a $17.6 million case calls at 2 a.m. on a Sunday and no one answers, that case goes to the next firm on the list. The firm also uses AI as an automated chaser, following up on leads past the 30-day mark that the firm would otherwise mark as lost.
"Quantum leap" hires beat incremental hires every time. Kelly's CFO started as his assistant 12 years ago. Kelly promoted his managing attorney from associate. But when recruiting externally, Kelly pays for top-notch talent. He recently canceled a senior hire the morning of the final meeting because the candidate's approach to the employment agreement signaled a culture mismatch. The short-term pain of walking away cost less than the long-term damage of a misaligned hire spreading through the organization.
"If your shop isn't great and the work that the people at your shop are providing your clients isn't fantastic, then you are going to lose in the long run."
The pattern across Kelly's playbook is consistent: The constraint holding most PI firms back is not demand. It is the operational infrastructure required to convert that demand into outcomes at scale. Kelly did not grow by spending more on advertising. He grew by building a machine that could handle what the advertising produced, and by hiring the people who could run it without him in the room.

Make your LinkedIn posts citable by AI. As we covered above, LinkedIn content now shows up in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini responses. But AI models do not cite everything. They cite original, educational content that directly answers a question.
The action this week: Publish one LinkedIn post that answers a specific question an injured person would ask ("how long does a personal injury case take," "what should I do after a car accident," "do I need a lawyer for a minor injury"). Write it in plain language, include real details from your practice, and skip the verdict brags. One substantive post per week, published consistently, builds more AI search equity than a month of reshared articles.

GPT-5.4 Brings Computer Use to ChatGPT. Here Is Why PI Firms Should Pay Attention.
OpenAI released GPT-5.4 on March 5, and the upgrade that matters most for law firm operators is not the smarter answers. It is native computer use.
GPT-5.4 can see your screen, click buttons, fill forms, navigate between applications, and execute multi-step workflows across your desktop without custom code or API setup. Anthropic's Claude introduced computer use in beta back in October 2024, and open-source tools like OpenClaw followed in late 2025.
GPT-5.4 brings the capability into ChatGPT, a tool that a lot of legal professionals already use, with the highest benchmark scores to date. For PI firms that spend hours every week on repetitive administrative work across intake platforms, case management systems, and spreadsheets, this is a capable and accessible model.
OpenAI built GPT-5.4 as its most capable model for professional work. It combines the reasoning improvements from the GPT-5 series with coding capabilities previously limited to Codex and adds computer use as a native feature. The model scored 75% on OSWorld, a desktop automation benchmark, the highest score of any AI system and the first to surpass human expert performance on that test.
The one-million token context window changes what fits inside a single conversation. Previous models capped at 128,000 tokens, roughly 300 pages. GPT-5.4 handles one-million tokens, enough to execute multiple projects in one session. For example, firms managing document-heavy PI cases no longer need to break files into chunks or summarize before querying.
Computer use means the model operates software, not just generates text. GPT-5.4 reads screenshots, moves cursors, clicks interface elements, types into fields, and navigates between applications in a loop. In early enterprise testing, the model hit a 95% success rate on form-filling and data-entry tasks on the first attempt and 100% within three attempts, completing sessions roughly three times faster than manual execution. The practical applications for PI firms start with intake form processing, insurance portal navigation, and data extraction across systems that do not talk to each other.
Factual accuracy improved 18% over the prior model. GPT-5.4 produces 33% fewer errors in individual claims and 18% fewer errors per response compared to GPT-5.2. GPT-5.4 also corrects its reasoning mid-response when new information surfaces during a long task rather than committing to an early mistake.
GPT-5.4 is available now across ChatGPT Plus, Team, Pro, and Enterprise plans. The computer use feature requires the API for full automation but basic desktop interaction ships inside ChatGPT. For PI firms that want to test it, start with a repeatable administrative task that eats paralegal time every week and see if the model can run it.
